THE LINDAHL CORN CRIB

"Kornkrybba" is the Norwegian-American word for a corncrib. This one comes from the Coon Valley area in Wisconsin, from the farm of Johannes Lindahl. Johannes Lindahl was born in 1808, and emigrated from Land, Norway in 1857. He settled in the town of Coon that same year. He and his wife Agnete had nine children. Agnete and Johannes died both in 1898. The "kornkrybba" was a common building on a Norwegian farm in America. It is however most unusual when compared to Norwegian building traditions.
